A day ahead of an expected announcement by Audi that it will offer the TT-RS in the U.S., the German automaker is showcasing the sports car at the Chicago Auto Show.

Later this month, Audi Canada will be showing the same car at the Canadian International Auto Show and company representatives have confirmed it will go on sale in that country. That being said, it’s a near certainty that the TT-RS will hit U.S. dealers some time this year – in limited quantity.

What makes the TT-RS so special is that unlike the TT-S which uses a pumped-up version of the automaker’s 2.0T engine, the TT-RS get’s a new turbocharged 2.5-liter 5-cylinder. The result is 335-hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. With a six-speed manual it can hit 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds.

We’ll await official word from Audi tomorrow and expect the TT-RS to come with an equally high-performance price tag.
